As the NFL continues to blend pop culture and pro football, rap legend Ice Cube has entered the conversation.

During a live episode of the Outta Pocket podcast at the 2025 Fanatics Fest, the hip-hop icon shared his take on Taylor Swift‘s high-profile presence at Kansas City Chiefs games. Rather than criticize the attention Swift draws, Ice Cube offered a pragmatic and supportive perspective.

“Well, that adds to the game because the NFL is interested in new eyeballs, more viewership,” Ice Cube said. “They’re trying to bring women into the sport. And if they gotta use Taylor Swift-so be it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.”

Swift, who began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in 2023, has been a constant media fixture at games, appearing in luxury suites and cheering alongside Kelce‘s family.

While her appearances have stirred strong opinions across sports media and fan circles, Cube made it clear that what ultimately matters is what happens between the lines.

“You know, at the end of the day, it’s really about what Travis does on the field. It’s not about what Taylor does in a suite, you know what I mean?” Ice Cube added. “So, no matter who’s at the game, whether she comes or not, Travis Kelce still has to perform-and he is performing at a high level. So I don’t understand what the big deal is about.”

Swift’s impact on the NFL is undeniable

Since her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2023, Swift has become one of the NFL’s most visible non-athlete personalities. Decked out in Chiefs red and cheering openly for her partner, Swift helped shift the dynamics of how pop culture interacts with the sport.

According to Marissa Solis, the NFL’s senior VP of global brand and consumer marketing, women now make up 47 percent of the NFL’s audience, a record high. That rise, in part, has been attributed to Swift‘s regular appearances and cultural crossover appeal.

“Women aren’t as afraid… the casual fan doesn’t feel as afraid to watch professional sports right now, watch the NFL because, well, our girl Taylor helped out with that,” said longtime FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews at the Cannes Lions Festival.

Swift‘s appearances became a staple of the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. She attended over a dozen games, including playoff matchups and the 2025 Super Bowl, drawing constant camera attention and increasing the NFL’s reach into mainstream entertainment.
