After a season that restored hope to the “Windy City,” Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has decided to swap the pigskin for a basketball. Following the advice of his head coach, Ben Johnson, to “hit the reset button” and step away from football for a while to recharge, the young quarterback is preparing to shine under the bright lights of Los Angeles during NBA All-Star Weekend 2026.

Williams is coming off a historic sophomore NFL campaign. He led the Bears to an 11-6 record and the NFC North title, setting a franchise record with 3,942 passing yards, along with 27 touchdown passes and just 7 interceptions.

After a dramatic overtime loss to the Rams in the Divisional Round, his coach was clear: “He did a phenomenal job staying focused all year… but he needs to get away from football a little bit.”

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner wasted no time and accepted the challenge to compete in the inaugural Celebrity Three-Point Contest, an event that promises to be one of the biggest attractions of the festive weekend at SoFi Court.

What time is the Celebrity Three-Point Contest?

The event will take place next Friday, February 13. The Celebrity Three-Point Contest is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. EST, exactly three hours after the traditional Celebrity Game tips off.

Williams will not be the only NFL star participating in the festivities. While he looks to knock down shots from long range, Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) and Keenan Allen (L.A. Chargers) will represent the league in the exhibition game beforehand.

However, the challenge will not be easy for Williams, as the field of competitors includes an active professional shooter and several high-profile personalities:

  • Caleb Williams (Bears QB)
  • Jared McCain (OKC Thunder guard)
  • Richard Jefferson (Former NBA star and analyst)
  • Nigel Sylvester (BMX athlete)
  • Druski (Comedian)
  • Jake from State Farm (Iconic insurance character)
  • PlaqueBoyMax (Streamer)
  • Cam Wilder (TikTok influencer)

Can the accuracy Williams displayed while breaking records in Chicago translate to the three-point line against a professional player like McCain? Friday night will reveal whether Williams might one day trade the NFL for a shot at the NBA.
