In this moment, in which the WNBA season has ended, players are taking advantage of the break by doing things that help them reconnect with themselves. Some are spending time with their families, others are on vacation, some are indulging in self-care, and a few are trying their luck in sports that do not require the competitiveness demanded by the professional level. This is the case for the Rookie of the Year, Paige Bueckers.
To maintain physical activity, even if it does not match the intensity of the 44 demanding games they face year after year, Bueckers will be participating in the Wellball VIP League Event in Dallas. The event will take place this coming Sunday, November 30, and the announcement was made through the event’s official Instagram account.
We are honored to announce that Paige Bueckers, 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year and NCAA National Champion, will be participating in the Wellball VIP League event in Dallas.
Paige Bueckers, the first WNBA player to join Wellball
Many people do not know or have never heard of Wellball, and to put it in simple terms, it is pickleball adapted to the style of basketball. There are no fouls, no need to dribble past defenders, and no physical encounters with an opponent. Wellball is simply about shooting the ball at the basket and scoring.
New York City was chosen to host the inaugural event, which was also sponsored by MyPrize. For the second edition, to be held in Dallas, Paige Bueckers will be present.
The Dallas Wings player has already received support from former NBA star Stephon Marbury, who is now actively involved in the project.
After watching this young lady’s shooting clinic in her highlight reel, I knew WellBall had found the perfect fit. But she’s more than just a shooter-she can see the wind when she passes.
Marbury expressed this and added on his Instagram account:
Driven by a deep, relentless will to win, this gem is destined to shine bright until the very end. It’s not just an honor, it’s a blessing to welcome you to @playwellball @paigebueckers Love is Love.
Paige Bueckers talks about the mentality in the WNBA
Paige averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in her first WNBA season. And despite winning the Rookie of the Year trophy, she insists she still has much to work on.
It’s hard because the things that I mean I’ve changed my perspective from things happening to me to things happening for mex.”… “And I’m proud of all the things that I’ve been through. And you don’t want to talk bad about other people because of situations that happened to you, but you realize how important it was to shaping who you are.
Bueckers said.
For now, she relaxes and tries to enjoy this time away from competition, clearing her mind so she can return even stronger in 2026.
