Canelo Alvarez is looking to improve his image after the boring fight against William Scull on May 3 in Saudi Arabia, a duel that has the bad record of being the one with the fewest punches thrown in 40 years of CompuBox counting.
However, the Jalisco fighter emerged victorious by unanimous decision and with the belts that Turki Alalshikh wanted to be put on the line against Terence Crawford (41-0) for the fight on September 13 in Las Vegas.
Canelo vs Crawford better than Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao
They now boast that this fight between Saul Alvarez (63-2-2) and Crawford will be the best in history in terms of the money it will generate, above the so-called “Fight of the Century” between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao in 2015, which generated about $600 million in revenue.
I’ve been involved since 2000, so it’s 25 years and I don’t remember a bigger fight than Canelo-Crawford. It’s going to be the biggest fight in the sport in all that time.
“With Mayweather-Pacquiao, people hyped it up a lot. It was a huge financial success, but I think this one can be just as successful in that regard, if not more so, butI think Canelo-Crawford is a fight between two men truly in their prime,” said Richard Schaefer, Canelo’s business manager, told The Ring.
Canelo vs Crawford without confirmed broadcaster
However, it has not yet been announced who will broadcast the fight between Crawford and Alvarez, although it has been rumored that it could be Netflix.
What has been confirmed is that it will be held at the Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, with a capacity of 65,000 spectators, although it remains to be seen whether the capacity will be modified for this fight.
