The news that neither Golden State Warriors nor the fans wanted to receive is a fact: Stephen Curry will be out for at least a week and it is unlikely that he will be able to be present before Game 4 of the Playoffs.

After he left the game visibly in pain during the second quarter of the 88-99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, the severity of his injury was confirmed.

The team released the current status of the “30” through its official Instagram account:

Stephen Curry, who exited last night’s game against the Timberwolves with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter with a strained left hamstring, underwent an MRI this morning.
The MRI confirmed the injury as a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Curry will be re-evaluated in one week.

This injury sets a precedent in Stephen’s career because, while he has had several, it is the player’s first muscle strain, so it is also uncertain how long it will take him to recover.

When could Curry return?

According to estimates, Curry would miss Golden State’s second, third and probably fourth games against the Timberwolves, which will be played on Thursday the 15th, Saturday the 10th and Monday the 12th, respectively.

Should the series be extended, Game 5 would be played on Wednesday, May 14 in Minneapolis, exactly one week removed from his injury.

Sunday 18 would be the sixth game in San Francisco and Tuesday 20, the seventh game in Minnesota.

Steph hadn’t missed a Playoffs game since the 2018 Western Semifinals when a knee injury sidelined him.

The team’s support

During the game he contributed 13 points in 13 minutes before having to leave the courts. This magic will be missing from the team, but despite the emotional blow that Curry’s loss represents, the team has shown unity.

Golden State coach Steve Kerr said, “He’s obviously down. We’re all worried about Steph but it’s part of basketball.”

For his part, Jimmy Butler expressed that everyone’s wish is for him to return, but “we want him to do the best he can for himself and for our group. Until then, we can hold the position. I know we can,” he said.

They will have to put up a fight as a team, as Warriors.
