The 2025 NBA Finals are among the most exciting in recent years. Indiana forced Oklahoma City to play all seven games and even took a 2-1 lead. However, a masterful performance by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) gave the Thunder the victory, leaving a lasting impression on Tyrese Haliburton.

The Finals between the Pacers and the Thunder left a bitter taste in Haliburton’s mouth. Not only because of the loss itself, but also because of the injury he suffered in the opening minutes of Game 7 that will keep him sidelined for the next 15 months.

The Pacers star has turned to his love of video games to make his situation more bearable. However, even in the virtual world, he can’t escape Gilgeous-Alexander, to the point that it’s already causing him “nightmares.”

Haliburton already “hates” SGA

More than two and a half months have passed since the Thunder lifted the NBA championship trophy, but Gilgeous-Alexander still appears in some way or another in Haliburton’s life. Most recently, during an NBA 2K26 live stream.

The hilarious moment happened while Haliburton was in a common area with other players and encountered an avatar of a player identical to SGA, but with an oversized head. “Everytime I blink on this game, he’s right there. Giving me nightmares, bruh,” Tyrese laughed.

SGA has earned his place in NBA history

It’s no wonder Gilgeous-Alexander is the avatar of choice for many NBA 2K26 players. Averaging 30.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.9 steals, the Thunder star has earned his place as Finals MVP and a place in the fans’ hearts.

Unfortunately for Haliburton, his torn Achilles tendon will leave him with a lot of spare time, and if he keeps turning to NBA 2K26 to kill time, he’ll likely continue to encounter SGA in every way imaginable. He’d better start getting used to it or find another hobby. Gardening, perhaps?
