Just about everyone assumed Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were going to be happily married until the end of their days. Having met in late 2006, the couple had two children together after getting married in 2009, and had become one of the true power couples in the sports-entertainment sphere. But Brady’s insistence on continuing to play football well into his mid-40s put a strain on their marriage.
Ultimately, the two divorced in 2022, and Bundchen didn’t waste much time moving on romantically. She had met Joaquim Valente in 2021, when Bundchen’s sons started learning jiu-jitsu at Valente’s academy. According to reports, Bundchen and Valente became romantically involved about eight months following her divorce from Brady. Less than two and a half years later, they have their first child together and are now married.
Bundchen and Valente seem head-over-heels in love with each other. They have moved their relationship along quickly, and everything points to their marriage withstanding the test of time. Yet it’s Bundchen’s family that’s already casting doubt on the future of their partnership, with Brady serving as a point of comparison.

According to a source for Page Six, the Brazilian supermodel’s family is worried that Valente’s modest income background could lead to a messy financial situation if they get divorced at some point in time – despite the couple having a prenup in place.
A source tells Page Six that, “Her family warned her that marrying a penniless guy when she is worth millions is a mistake. Her family told her to just live with him. But between Valente’s pressure and her being a traditionalist, she felt since they have a child, they might as well marry. There is a prenup, but with some loopholes that mean if they divorce there will be a financial settlement for him.”
Of course, this wasn’t an issue with Brady, who made plenty of money on his own through his football career and with off-field endorsement deals. Bundchen’s family is likely just looking out for her, but it’s fair to say her relationship with Valente is rock-solid for the time being.
