ANew York Giants fan, now infamously dubbed “Giants Karen,” is trying to defend herself after being caught on camera snatching a gift meant for a 10-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan.
The viral clip, recorded after the Chiefs’ 22-9 win over the Giants, shows quarterback Patrick Mahomes handing his headband directly to a young boy in the stands-only for an adult woman to rip it from his hands.
The stunned child turned to the camera and said, “Yo, she just stole that from me!” The clip quickly spread online, sparking fury across TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), where fans condemned the woman’s actions as “cruel” and “embarrassing.”
Nina Miller speaks out
It didn’t take long for the woman to reveal her identity. Nina Miller, posting under the handle @michaelmiller_nina, shared two TikTok videos addressing the controversy.
In her first clip, Miller insisted she had done nothing wrong. “I did not steal a headband from a little kid,” she said, claiming she paid for her seats while others “probably came from further back.” She even suggested the boy’s parents needed to “toughen him up.”
Her unapologetic stance only fueled the outrage, with fans pointing out that Mahomes made direct eye contact with the child before handing him the band.
From defense to apology
Facing mounting backlash, Miller uploaded a second video in which she backtracked and issued an apology. “I honestly thought Patrick Mahomes was giving me the headband,” she said, before admitting she felt awful once she realized it was the boy’s 10th birthday.
“To the young boy, I’m sorry I ruined your moment. You should have had your moment for your birthday,” Miller added, asking TikTok users to help her reconnect with the child, identified as Joey, so she could return the keepsake.
“I’m a human. I make mistakes; I’m not perfect. But I’m also a mom, also a Christian,” Miller said. Still, NFL fans online have made it clear: her apology isn’t enough.
