The last few weeks have been turbulent for Gervonta Davis after he surprised with the announcement of his retirement from boxing in early December 2024, then sent confusing messages about the holding of his next fight against Lamont Roach Jr. and last week he had a spat on social networks with Terence Crawford.Gervonta Davis has a fight scheduled against Lamont Roach Jr. to defend his WBA lightweight title on March 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and so far there is nothing official about any cancellation.

On this date, Tank Davis hinted that he would announce who his next opponent would be, which for now points to a rematch against Ryan Garcia, who on April 20 will pay the year of suspension after testing positive for Ostarine in his fight against Devin Haney.

Mikey Garcia longs for a Gervonta Davis vs Vasily Lomachenko fight

If his plans to retire with three fights in 2025, after facing Roach he will have two spots available, one if he chooses Ryan Garcia to cash in. So the former four-division world champion Mikey Garcia gave his opinion and recommended Tank a unification fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko, which would be more exciting than facing Shakur Stevenson.

“I think Shakur Stevenson is a great fighter. He has the skills, the talent and he’s a great boxer. He’s super talented, with footwork, speed, reflexes and ability to counterpunch,” Garcia told Fight Hub TV.

Despite the praise for Stevenson, Mikey Garcia added that he would not like to see him in the ring against Davis, because what he will do is box him and not go all out like Lomachenko.

“I would rather see Tank fight other guys, for example, Lomachenko, because I know he’s there to fight. Even though he also has great footwork and speed and all that, he’s there to fight,” Garcia said, adding that “a fight with Shakur Stevenson will not be as exciting a matchup for Tank.”
