Robert Griffin III and his family are recovering after being involved in what he described as the most terrifying accident of their lives.

The former NFL quarterback revealed that their vehicle was severely damaged in a crash on Friday while driving through Fort Worth, Texas.

The crash occurred when Griffin was traveling with his wife Grete and their children. Their van, reportedly a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, collided with a highway divider multiple times, resulting in both front tires being blown out. Despite the severity of the crash, no major injuries were reported.

“Just got in the worst car accident of our lives with my wife and kids in Fort Worth, Texas,” Griffin wrote. “Scary crash, ricocheted off the highway divider multiple times, blown both front tires. Thankful to God that my wife and kids are safe.”

Photos from the aftermath show significant damage to their vehicle, while the other car involved appeared to be totaled, with its front end nearly destroyed.

Grete later shared that everyone in both vehicles survived. She confirmed they were examined by medical personnel at the scene.

“Got everyone checked out in the ambulance and kiddos are all well and healthy,” she said. “I hit my head so will get a CT scan and Robert’s back is also getting checked out.”

The couple, who married in 2016, share three young daughters – Gloria, Gameya, and Gia. Robert also has a 10-year-old daughter, Reese Ann, from a previous relationship.

Earlier this year, the couple made headlines after a public spat with ex-NFL player Ryan Clark, who criticized their interracial relationship. He later apologized for his remarks.

Since retiring from football, Griffin has worked in broadcasting, joining ESPN in 2021. He was recently replaced on ‘Monday Night Countdown’ by Jason Kelce, a change that prompted Grete to hint at bigger opportunities ahead.
