Human remains discovered near Taylor Swift‘s Rhode Island residence have been positively identified as belonging to Eric Wein, a 31-year-old Massachusetts resident.

The remains were found on May 14, 2025, in the Watch Hill neighborhood of Westerly, Rhode Island, not far from Swift‘s seaside mansion, known as “Holiday House.”

According to a press release from the South Kingstown Police Department issued on June 13, 2025, the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners confirmed the identification. Wein‘s vehicle was found in South Kingstown on April 10, and he was reported missing on April 18.

The investigation, conducted in cooperation with local authorities, has concluded with no suspicion of foul play. Authorities have extended their condolences to Wein‘s family during this difficult time.

Community reaction and media attention

The discovery of the remains in such close proximity to a high-profile celebrity’s home naturally drew significant media attention.

Residents of the affluent Watch Hill neighborhood expressed alarm at the unusual event, particularly given its closeness to Taylor Swift’s well-known residence and the Ocean House hotel.

One local resident remarked, “It kind of alarmed me, and it was just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly.”

Swift‘s historic home, called High Watch, was purchased in 2013 and has famously hosted high-profile guests. This incident, however, is now resolved, and authorities have emphasized that it was an isolated event with no ongoing threat to the community.

While the discovery of human remains near a celebrity’s home inevitably attracts public and media attention, it’s essential to approach such situations with sensitivity and respect for the individuals and families involved.

In this case, the swift identification and closure provided by forensic experts have helped bring clarity to a concerning situation.
