If there’s a common denominator between Jaxson Dart and Daniel Jones, it’s that one is and the other was a quarterback for the New York Giants. Both were also coached by Brian Daboll, who was fired as the Giants’ head coach and has now been hired as the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans to help develop Cam Ward.

Brian Daboll arrived in New York as head coach in 2022, and in what seemed like the end of Daniel Jones’ time with the franchise, that season turned out to be the best of the Duke alum’s career. He reached the playoffs and earned a new contract. However, things went downhill afterward, and he was cut near the end of the 2024 season following two disastrous years.

For the 2025 season, Brian Daboll received a vote of confidence and selected Jaxson Dart in the draft, starting him in Week 4. But it was too late; although Dart brought new energy to the offense, the results didn’t improve, and Daboll was fired in Week 10 after a painful comeback loss to the Chicago Bears.

Brian Daboll wants pieces from Daniel Jones and Jaxson Dart

Brian Daboll was interviewed for head coaching positions with the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. Ultimately, he became the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, with the goal of developing Cam Ward. Providing him with weapons is now a priority, and in free agency, targets include Alec Pierce from the Colts and Wan’Dale Robinson from the Giants.

“If the Titans can’t sign Pierce, their next target is Wan’Dale Robinson. Tennessee had interest in Robinson even before hiring Brian Daboll as its offensive coordinator. Daboll drafted Robinson out of Kentucky in 2022 when he was the head coach of the New York Giants. Tennessee’s interest in Robinson has risen even further since the hiring of Daboll,” said Tony Pauline, analyst for Essentially Sports.

Interestingly, Wan’Dale Robinson just finished his first 1,000-yard season in the NFL and was Jaxson Dart’s top aerial weapon this season. Meanwhile, Daniel Jones, who had a surprising season before his injury with the Indianapolis Colts, relied heavily on Alec Pierce, who also finished with over 1,000 yards this year.

Both the Giants and the Colts have expressed interest in getting their respective players back-New York wants Robinson, and Indianapolis wants Pierce. But the reality is that both are seeking lucrative contracts, and one team capable of offering them that is the Tennessee Titans.
