“The most incredible thing about Carlos is that he is so good at correcting in a very short time the small details that he must improve,” Ferrero said in the press conference after Alcaraz’s victory in the US Open final against Jannik Sinner.

“He’s chameleonic and you can ask him for any circumstance in the game, he adapts and in the end he gets it and we also transfer that a lot to training,” he added.

Ferrero acknowledges that Alcaraz changed “new things” in his game to prepare to beat Sinner

The former Spanish tennis player explained that after the final lost at Wimbledon two months ago, also against Sinner, he asked him for “certain new things in order to prepare for the next matches against Jannik especially”.

“In just 10 days he improved considerably,” said Ferrero, who explained that they sat down to analyze the finals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon to “try to see the little things that could be improved.”

Ferrero also described Alcaraz’s performance in New York this afternoon as “perfect”, as he defeated Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 in two hours and 42 minutes.

In addition, Ferrero said that this rivalry with Sinner “seems right now” like the one that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic had for almost two decades. “Who knows in the future,” he added.
