Dominican slugger Juan Soto is just taking his first steps as a new player for the New York Mets, and despite the time that has passed, the criticism from Yankees fans does not stop.

After a good season with the Bronx Bombers, whom he helped reach the World Series, Soto decided to emigrate to play with the Queens nine, which enraged the Yankees fans.

If that wasn’t enough, the latest comment from the Manhattan Mules manager Aaron Boone caught the attention of everyone in MLB after the preseason series between the two Big Apple teams.

The Yankees and Mets played a preseason game in Queens, in the Dominican’s first game against his former team.

The game ended in a 6-6 tie and Soto went 0-for-2: in his first at-bat he was put out with a grounder to first base, and later flied out to left field, before being replaced by Tyrone Taylor.

Boone’s words to Soto that caused a great reaction on social media

Soto met with some of his former teammates and spoke with Boone, who in an interview mentioned that he told Juan Soto that he looked awful in his uniform.

Most Yankees fans were satisfied with his words and took to social media to support their manager.

“Soto is a baby because he couldn’t live in the shadow of (Aaron) Judge. A lot of these moves don’t work and I suspect this will be no exception,” wrote one fan.

“Hahaha! Well, he’s not lying,” added another fan, while another wrote: “All the players look terrible in those uniforms.”“There has never been such a loss of aura as Soto signing with the Mets,” added another fan.

Opinion divided for Soto in his presentation at Citi Field

Despite playing at the Mets’ stadium, Soto received mixed reactions in Queens. It turns out that many Yankees fans were in attendance, and when the slugger stepped up to the plate, there were cheers and boos at the same time.

It’s common for fans to boo their former players, but being booed at home was a big surprise, suggesting that Soto will have a tough challenge when he plays against the Yankees in the Bronx.
