WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete and Oscar Valdez will hold their eagerly awaited rematch this weekend in Arizona. The two Mexican fighters first stepped into the ring together in August 2023, with the champion winning by unanimous decision and then successfully defending his title against Robson Conceicao.

But it will not be the only fight with Mexican presence in the night, as in the co-main event will appear Rafael Espinoza to defend his WBO featherweight championship against the Cuban Robeisy Ramirez, also in an attractive rematch, after almost a year ago, Espinoza knocked down Ramirez in the last round to win a majority decision and stay with the Cuban’s scepter, in a fight that experts described as the Upset of the Year 2023.
In the case of the main fight, Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs) dominated Valdez on the scorecards to win by a clear unanimous decision (116-112, 118-110 and 119-109) in their previous fight. Before that, he struggled to defend his title with a draw against Robson Conceicao.
In May, he tried his luck at 135 pounds to fight Denys Berinchyk, but lost by split decision as he attempted to become a four-division champion. Now, he will make the third defense of his 130-pound title.
Valdez (32-2, 24 KOs) has only fought once since the loss to ‘Vaquero’ and won by seventh-round technical knockout over Liam Wilson in March. In previous years he was champion at 126 and 130 pounds.
