Edgar Berlanga returned to action after his defeat against Canelo Alvarez and knocked out Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-1-1) in the first round.
After his brief and surprising display, The Chosen One raised what could be his future with threats to his possible rivals.
Saul Alvarez becomes the role model for Berlanga
With confidence sky high, Berlanga targeted rivals such as Caleb Plant (23-2), Jermall Charlo (33-0) and Jaime Munguia, opponents that Saul Alvarez has already faced, except for Jermall, the brother of Jermell, who already fought against the one from Jalisco.

As Floyd Mayweather told me, ‘you’ve got dynamite in those hands, just let them fly, nobody’s going to be standing there with you. Your punch is very strong and you’re very smart,'” he told iFL TV.
Of the opponents he mentioned, only Munguia (44-2), who now trains alongside Canelo and Eddy Reynoso, would have a fight ahead against Bruno Surace, who surprised by knocking him out in Tijuana last December. The rematch is expected to be in April. Plant has not fought since September 2024 and Charlo since 2023.
