The excitement in the boxing world continues to grow following the official announcement of the fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis, scheduled for November 14 in Atlanta, Georgia. Although the event is already confirmed, there are still doubts about crucial details, especially the weight at which the two fighters will face each other. Paul, with a much larger build than Davis, makes this difference a key factor in determining whether the fight will be professional or exhibition.
Even so, the reality is clear: both boxers will walk away with millions. Although the official figures have not been revealed, a heavyweight name in the industry, Eddie Hearn, president of Matchroom Boxing, has already given hints that have surprised fans.
Eddie Hearn reveals how much Gervonta Davis will earn
Hearn, one of the most influential promoters in boxing, was one of the first to speak publicly about the clash. In fact, in April he revealed the date before anyone else: “We know Gervonta will fight Jake Paul in November, and then we’ll see what happens.”
In a recent interview with The Ring, Hearn revealed what he believes is Davis’ real motivation for taking on this challenge: “I think this shows you where Gervonta is at. And by the way, Gervonta is probably earning, I don’t know, $30, $40 million. So do you blame him for fighting Paul?”
The British promoter went further, comparing the earnings that Davis would have in another fight: “If you’re in a room making a business decision and you can make $5, $6, $7 or $8 million for a rematch against Lamont Roach in a 50-50 fight, or you can make $30 million against Jake Paul, the choice is obvious”.
Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis: spectacle and business
Although it has not yet been confirmed whether Davis’ purse will reach such impressive figures, Hearn’s statements have further fueled the conversation surrounding the fight. His credibility is enhanced when considering that he represents Anthony Joshua, the possible next opponent of Jake Paul after facing Davis, which gives him insider information on the millionaire negotiations in this type of events.
In addition, Hearn had already accurately predicted the date of the fight months before it was made official, so many believe his estimates of Davis’ purse are also accurate.
With all this, the clash between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis not only promises action in the ring, but also record figures in terms of audience, business and earnings for both fighters.
