The reality is that the clash between Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. could be more attractive than the YouTuber’s previous exhibitions, and is gaining more and more followers. This is partly because despite the fact that there is a 10-year age difference between the contenders, the balance is basically due to the following factors: Paul still doesn’t know how to box, but he makes up for it with desire and effort, and also brings youth to the equation, while ‘Junior’ may be in frank decline, but he is a born boxer, and also hungry to retire at 39 years old with some glory, even if it is against the YouTuber.

JC Chavez: “My son can beat Paul without any problems”

Another factor driving the narrative that the fight could exceed expectations is the opinion of some experts on what the public can expect, for example, Junior’s father, boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez, who claims that his son can beat Paul without any problems, because he is “just a simple YouTuber” who although he has gained experience, still does not know much about boxing.

Another of the expert voices who has come out to comment on this fight is Eddie Hearn, the successful English promoter, who claims that Chavez Jr. is “a good option for Jake Paul. I’m really looking forward to seeing Chavez against Jake Paul. I don’t think he’s a world-class boxer anymore, but he’s not terrible,” said the head of Matchroom Boxing, who also claims he prefers this to last November’s ‘fight’ between Paul and Mike Tyson.

“I think the fight would be pretty good”

Hearn’s reading of the fight between the two contenders is very close to what it could be on the night of June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. He told Ariel Helwani and Ade Oladipo several days ago: “Unless Jake makes a lot of money, he’s not going to take substantial risks. He’s very calculating (…) Chavez Jr. suffered a loss to Anderson Silva, whom Paul defeated three years ago. However, he is quite popular in Mexico. I think the fight would be pretty good. I don’t think Chavez is terrible… if he just gets in shape, at least it could be competitive. But, size, youth… it’s a good matchup“.

Both Chavez Sr. and Eddie Hearn agree with Jake’s brother Logan Paul, who also said that his ‘bro’ will face a “real boxer” this time. And they are not wrong, but we should not overdo it with Junior either, as his age could play tricks on him and thus crown his long history of disappointment with what could be the worst defeat of his career… and the most embarrassing.
