While the Bears already have Cole Kmet, who signed a four-year, $50 million extension last year, Goedert could bring stability to a position that has seen bouts of inconsistency. Additionally, assistant general manager Ian Cunningham, who worked with the Eagles when Goedert was drafted, could be an advocate for the move.
However, a trade to Chicago seems unlikely. Kmet’s sizable contract and the Bears’ other pressing roster needs would make adding another expensive tight end a questionable investment. Still, the rumors highlight Goedert’s value and the potential interest he could attract across the league.
For Philadelphia, the decision is not an easy one. On one hand, trading Goedert could free up cap space and secure future assets, especially if a trade occurs after June 1 to minimize dead money.
