Dwight Howard has decided that his path in the league has reached its end. Although he acknowledged that he still has enough energy left to continue competing, he made it clear that the moment to hang up his sneakers has finally arrived.
“Superman” is now 40 years old and understands that the time has come to leave opportunities for younger players who are trying to build their own stories on NBA courts. The player who entered the league in 2004 through that year’s draft has also released a statement explaining why he has chosen to step away.
It is worth remembering that Howard remained in the NBA until the 2021-22 season before choosing to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Now he wants to prioritize the time he will spend alongside his family and his community.
In his farewell message, the veteran center thanked everyone who accompanied him throughout this successful journey, including those who supported him as well as those who wished him harm along the way.
