Draymond Green has added yet more mystery to the supposed bad blood between himself and former Golden State Warriors player Jordan Poole.

Poole used to be a teammate of Green‘s but he now turns out for the Washington Wizards instead, and the two sides recently faced one another in NBA action.

The Wizards lost 122-114 against the Warriors on Saturday night and Poole was reflecting on the contest in the locker room, where he was quoted as saying: “I love those guys over there” before adding “I love most of those guys over there.”

Many have interpreted that little clarification as a dig at Green, and there is a good chance that Green did exactly the same.

The four-time All-Star saw the quote relayed by Andscape’s Marc J. Spears and replied: “I really am sorry.”

Famously, Green once punched Poole during a training session in October 2022 and it was a rumbling story throughout that entire season. Poole was then traded to the Wizards in July 2023, and the bad blood caused by the incident does not appear to have gone away.

Green discusses the incident

Green discussed the incident on Penny Hardaway‘s Two Cents Podcast and called it “one of my biggest failures as a vet.”

“It took me to go through that failure with Jordan Poole, who was someone that came in and chose his locker to be next to me because he wanted to learn from me,” he said. “[He] was someone that I would spend time with and that I would pour into, and I [f–ked] it all up.”

It’s clear that Green is genuinely sorry about the situation, but Poole’s comment suggests that he may not have forgiven the Warrior just yet.
