If there’s one thing Drake has made clear throughout his career, it’s that his loyalty to Toronto knows no bounds. The Canadian rap superstar proved it again during the World Series, cheering on his Toronto Blue Jays, who are just one win away from their first championship in nearly three decades.

Just hours after the Blue Jays’ 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5, the artist shared an Instagram post that set social media ablaze. Drake uploaded a photo of Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers’ star, accompanied by a blunt message:

“ONE MORE!”

The wink was clear: Toronto is about to close out the series and end the streak of Ohtani and company.

Drake’s taunts and blue motivation

Drake didn’t stop there. Shortly after, he posted another story showing Ohtani at bat and pitcher Trey Yesavage walking towards the dugout. The rapper wrote:

“Savage is already on his way to the bench, boss, hahaha”.

In the image, Yesavage was heading to the dugout even before Ohtani took the swing, as if he already knew what was coming: another strikeout. The rapper’s posts went viral among fans, who crowned him as “the Blue Jays’ best motivator”.

For the first time this postseason, the Dodgers face elimination. They go into Game 6 trailing 3-2, with a lackluster offense – just three runs in the last 18 innings – and the pressure of having to win in Toronto.

Dodgers against history

Starter Blake Snell summed it up after the loss:

“Luck also plays a role in baseball”.Snell allowed two home runs in his first three pitches, and although Dodgers fans gave him a standing ovation, the damage was already done. “I don’t usually make excuses, but this was pretty bad luck,” he admitted.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at Dodger Stadium was sombre. In the last inning, a lone fan tried to start a chant – “The Series is not over!” – but only got a few cheers before silence fell.

Toronto, one step away from glory

Historically, teams that take a 3-2 lead in a best-of-seven series have won the title 68% of the time. And under the current format, 74% of visitors who go 3-2 up end up as champions.

However, manager Dave Roberts is not giving up:

“I think we can give more. It all comes down to one game. We’ve been in this situation before and we’ve come through it”.

Even so, the 2025 World Series is heading to Toronto with the Blue Jays closer than ever to writing a new golden page in their history… and with Drake as their most ardent fan.
