Following the arrest and rollover crash of golf legend Tiger Woods last Friday in Jupiter, Florida, all eyes turned to his inner circle and more specifically to his partner, Vanessa Trump, and inevitably to her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr.
Despite the past of these two, the gravity of the incident was enough to make Don Jr. to choose a path of peace over provocation, prioritizing the stability of his family and showing a rare moment of public-adjacent and empathy support for Woods.
Thankful that everyone was okay
According to reports from TMZ, Donald Trump Jr. has no intention of using the recent accident as leverage or a point of contention with his ex-wife. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation state that Don Jr. is not raising any concerns regarding his five children being around Woods, despite the frightening nature of the Friday crash.
The reasoning is that his children and Vanessa were not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
“Nothing about the situation has set off alarm bells for him,” sources told TMZ. Instead, the prevailing sentiment from the Trump Jr. camp is one of relief, as he is reportedly “thankful and grateful” that everyone involved survived the incident.
Not letting the past dictate the present
Don Jr. and Vanessa made their split official in 2018 and, for more than a year now, Vanessa has been in a relationship with Woods. Meanwhile, Don Jr. has also moved on in his personal life, committing to an engagement with socialite Bettina Anderson.
By refusing to bring more obstacles to Vanessa, Don Jr. is effectively insulating his children from the media firestorm surrounding Woods. His gesture is one of co-parenting class maturity that stands in stark contrast to the chaotic details of the arrest itself.
While the family remains supportive, the medical community is sounding a more urgent note. Donald Trump Jr.’s decision to remain supportive of the family unit suggests that, at least within the home, the focus is on healing rather than insulting.
