David Benavidez insists on fighting Canelo Alvarez with the aim of taking glory and not money, but the Mexican continues to refuse to fight.

This first Saturday in February, Benavidez faced David Morrell at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, and the trainer of the Mexican super middleweight champion was present.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso, was present in the arena in Las Vegas to witness the first big fight of the year and to observe a possible opponent for his trainee.

With an opponent yet to be confirmed for his May bout, Canelo would face Terence Crawford in September and perhaps Benavidez could get a shot, as long as both remain on the winning track.

The Mexican Monster remains the mandatory challenger for the 168-pound title by the WBC and perhaps that fight could come in 2026, although Red Flag is already looking for the 175-pound title against Artur Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol.

While he decides on his opponent for May, Saul Alvarez has three proposals from the promoter Sheikh Turki Al-Sheikh to arrange a fight together.

While one of those three names should be Crawford, the main one promoted by the Arab promoter, the other two possible opponents are uncertain.
