Which Los Angeles Dodgers star downplayed the San Diego Padres?

That star is Will Smith, the Los Angeles Dodgers catcher, who spoke out on the podcast of his teammate Mookie Betts, On Base With Mookie Betts

What did Will Smith say about the Dodgers versus Padres rivalry?

Will Smith was asked if Dodgers-Padres had overtaken Yankees-Red Sox as the sport’s biggest rivalry, to which the catcher replied: “I don’t know, man. I’m a little out of place on that. I think we’ve had five years now of really good baseball games, really good series, postseason matchups and stuff like that, but the Red Sox-Yankees have 100 years, like that’s the rivalry in baseball just from a historical standpoint.”

Mookie Betts also spoke about the Dodgers-Padres and Yankees-Red Sox rivalries

“Playing with the Red Sox, getting into that rivalry, it’s not just about baseball. I feel like here it’s mostly about baseball, who has the better team… But with the Yankees and the Red Sox, it’s like baseball, but it’s about the cities, which city is better, who can be heard more… it goes way beyond and has been around for so long with the history,” Mookie Betts on the Dodgers-Padres and Yankees-Red Sox rivalry.
