Whoopi Goldberg had a moment to forget during a recent episode of The View when she was welcoming guest Diana Taurasi to the show.

While Taurasi’s name doesn’t appear to be a tongue twister on paper, Whoopi had some difficulties in pronouncing it on live TV.

After going with the pronunciation of “Tour-ree-see”, it was evident the seasoned TV host had messed up.

Taurasi, known for never backing down when it comes to a battle of words, made sure Goldberg knew she had messed up – though it was all light-hearted.

“Good to see you,” Goldberg promptly told Taurasi, who responded: “Good to see you, Whippie. I mean – Whoopi.”

Why Taurasi was on the show

The appearance was Taurasi’s first since announcing her retirement from the WNBA.

It brings an end to what was a legendary 20-year career for the now 42-year-old. Taurasi is the WNBA’s career scoring leader and a three-time league champion, having played her entire career with the Phoenix Mercury.

“Mentally and physically, I’m just full,” Taurasi told Time. “That’s probably the best way I can describe it. I’m full and I’m happy.”

Taurasi also led the UConn Huskies to three straight national titles from 2001 to 2004, which resulted in her becoming the number one pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft.

She also won her sixth gold medal at the Paris Games. She ends her WNBA career with 10,646 points, which is almost 3,000 more than second-place Tina Charles.
