DeVonta Smith is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL. He is also regarded as one of the greatest college football players ever, thanks to his success at Alabama. However, his reaction after winning the recent Super Bowl has sparked controversy.
“I’m gonna be real with you…For me, you know, I’ve played at the biggest game on every stage…I think for me, the Super Bowl, it felt like that just because I was at home. It was just the emotion of me being home, but like once we won, it was just kinda like, eh.”
Smith was born just 75 miles from New Orleans and described the game as a homecoming. According to him, the only reason the Super Bowl felt significant was because it was played in his home state.
Big stages are nothing new for Smith. The former Alabama Crimson Tide player won two national championships and was named Playoff MVP in his final season. He is also the first wide receiver since 1991 to win the Heisman Trophy.
