Devin Booker is no stranger to pressure moments on the basketball court, but over Super Bowl weekend, the Phoenix Suns guard found himself fielding questions that had more to do with his private life and beef with Bad Bunny.
During a press conference that quickly went viral, Booker, 29, revealed that he “didn’t watch” the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show headlined by the Puerto Rican artist.
It just so happens that Bad Bunny – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – is the on-again, off-again ex-boyfriend of Jenner, Booker‘s former partner.
The NBA All-Star made clear there was no hidden agenda behind his decision, but fans have been left unconvinced by his decision to snub the halftime show.
“I’m just being completely honest,” Booker said when asked about skipping the performance.
When a reporter followed up by asking “for the fans of Puerto Rico” how it “felt to be a part of” Bad Bunny‘s milestone moment, Booker quickly corrected them by saying: “I’m Mexican.”
The blunt exchange immediately sparked social media debate, with fans dissecting whether the comment signaled lingering tension between the athlete and the Grammy-winning artist.
A complicated dating timeline involving Kendall Jenner
Booker and Jenner first began dating in 2020. Their relationship played out publicly, with the couple breaking up and reconciling multiple times before officially parting ways in 2022.
Following that split, Jenner moved on with Bad Bunny.
The “Kardashians” reality TV star and the Puerto Rican rapper were romantically linked between 2023 and 2024, navigating their own on-and-off dynamic before ultimately separating.
Speculation about friction between the two men dates back to 2023, when social media users suggested that Bad Bunny took a lyrical swipe at Booker in Eladio Carrion‘s song ‘Coco Chanel’.
The lyrics, translated from Spanish, read: “I’m not bad baby, that’s a gimmick / But the Puerto Rico sun in warmer than the one in Phoenix.”
Many interpreted the reference to Phoenix as a nod to Booker‘s NBA home with the Suns in Phoenix.
At the time, Booker appeared to respond, writing a cryptic comment on Instagram: “He’s worried about another man again.”
While neither camp publicly escalated the situation further, the perceived exchange added a layer of rivalry – at least in the eyes of fans.
Super Bowl sparks fresh beef
The dynamic resurfaced in January when Booker and Jenner engaged in a playful online exchange tied to her “Kardashian Curse” Super Bowl LX commercial.
“I bet a million the Seahawks get that ring before you do @kendalljenner,” Booker commented.
When Jenner fired back with; “@dbook how’s the ankle?” the guard responded by asking her to “come rub it.”
The flirtatious tone reignited speculation about their current relationship status. Weeks later, Jenner attended the NFL championship game alongside her close friend Hailey Bieber.
Cameras captured the pair holding hands during Bad Bunny‘s record-breaking halftime performance on February 8, with Jenner seen swaying somewhat awkwardly as the crowd roared.
It remains to be seen whether Bad Bunny will be drawn over Booker‘s apparent swipe. But this love triangle may not be closed just yet.
