Tom Brady was far from satisfied with the Las Vegas Raiders’ performance this season. After a disappointing 3-14 record, the team is searching for a new head coach who can pull them out of their prolonged slump. Former star quarterback Derek Carr has already thrown his hat into the ring.

The Raiders never found their footing this year. Under head coach Pete Carroll and veteran quarterback Geno Smith, the team endured its fourth consecutive losing season.

Carroll and Smith joined the Raiders last year alongside Brady, hoping to revive a franchise whose last playoff appearance came in 2021.

The lackluster results led to Carroll’s departure after just one season, and Carr quickly seized the opportunity-making a direct appeal to Brady for a chance to prove himself.

Carr raises his hand to coach the Raiders

Carr didn’t mince words. In a recent episode of his podcast Home Grown with David and Derek Carr, the former quarterback made it clear that he’s eager to coach his old team.

“I’m telling you right now, I know who it should be,” Carr said confidently. “I would love to be the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.”

Without hesitation, he posed a direct question to Brady and the Raiders’ front office: “Can I get an interview? I’d love to do it. You don’t understand how much I love the silver and black, bro.”

However, Brady and team owner Mark Davis appear to be heading in a different direction. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is prioritizing experience and a proven winning mentality.

Brady and the Raiders’ top candidate

In a recent interview, Brady-now a minority owner of the team-made his vision clear: “We want to deliver a winner in Las Vegas. The fan base deserves it.”

With that in mind, the Raiders have requested an interview with Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as a potential replacement for Carroll.

In addition to Hafley, Las Vegas has spoken with eight other candidates, including Kevin Stefanski, Matt Nagy, and Davis Webb. Given the depth of the candidate pool, Derek Carr’s chances of landing the job appear slim.
