NFL Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is known for his charisma, confidence, and commitment to faith. But recently, his message struck a deeper chord.

In a candid Instagram post, Coach Prime delivered a pointed reminder about the true source of healing and peace: “Power, Money & S* ain’t the answer to your Problems or the cure to your Pain. JESUS IS! #CoachPrime.”*

Though not explicitly directed at anyone, the message arrived amid the professional challenges faced by his son, Shilo Sanders, as he fights to stay in the NFL. A follow-up caption made the sentiment more personal: “You can try anything u desire to fix what’s broken and it ain’t gonna work consistently but GOD will.”

For Deion, no amount of talent or money can replace character, discipline, or faith. And for Shilo, that lesson is being lived out in real time.

From college star to NFL setback

Shilo Sanders carved out a solid college football career across stints at South Carolina, Jackson State, and Colorado. His senior year at Colorado was particularly strong, posting 99 solo tackles and grabbing headlines with an 80-yard pick-six.

Despite his production, Shilo went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers eventually signed him as an undrafted free agent, giving him an opportunity to prove himself at the next level.

But during a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, Shilo let his emotions get the best of him. After a play, he threw a punch in frustration, which resulted in an ejection, a $4,669 fine, and eventually being cut by the Bucs before the regular season even began.

Head coach Todd Bowles addressed the issue directly: “You can’t throw punches in this league – that’s inexcusable… They’re going to get you every time. You’ve got to grow from that.”

That moment of frustration cost Shilo his roster spot, and since then, the NFL has shown little forgiveness. Despite a few teams suffering defensive injuries, like the Chargers placing Khalil Mack on IR or the Jaguars releasing Darnell Savage, Shilo has not been picked up. Other safeties, like Tony Jefferson and Kahlef Hailassie, were chosen instead.

Now, Shilo finds himself in limbo, with NFL doors momentarily closed.

Exploring new paths, but staying grounded

Off the field, Shilo has remained active and reflective. On his YouTube channel, he shared a heartfelt message about his uncertain future: “If that’s in the NFL, cool, but God has blessed me with a lot of talent to do things other than football.”

Deion Sanders recently hinted at what that “something else” could be. “I was gonna go down that avenue once upon a time. I think that’s the avenue that – streaming, acting – that Shilo’s going to go down. He’s just got that gift,” Deion said.

Whether he’s on the gridiron or in front of a camera, Shilo’s personality and presence are hard to ignore. His football career may be on hold, but his story is far from over. With faith, family, and natural charisma behind him, Shilo Sanders may soon shine in a whole new arena.
