The media pressure in the NFL right now-and for quite some time-will be squarely on the shoulders of Kevin Stefanski, head coach of the Cleveland Browns. That’s because there’s currently a five-way quarterback battle for the starting spot on the team, and among the contenders is Shedeur Sanders, the high-profile quarterback from the Colorado Buffaloes and son of legend Deion Sanders.

The Browns currently have Joe Flacco, veteran Super Bowl MVP; Kenny Pickett, former Philadelphia Eagles player and a first-round pick by the Steelers; the injured Deshaun Watson; along with rookies Dillon Gabriel from the Oregon Ducks and Shedeur Sanders.

So, the battle will be fierce among all of them, because the reality is that even though all signs point to Joe Flacco starting off as QB1 in training camp, anyone who shows commitment, effort, and most importantly, talent, could win the starting quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns.

Deion Sanders’ message to the Browns

Cleveland Browns insider Brad Stainbrook shared some clips showing Shedeur Sanders making short and medium passes in different drills with receivers from his new team’s camp.

That’s when Deion Sanders stepped in, posting the following message on his official Instagram account in support of his youngest son: “Yes sir @shedeursanders.”

This past Friday, both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders were practicing together at Browns camp. However, head coach Kevin Stefanski gave the first reps to the quarterback from the Oregon Ducks, who was selected in the third round.

Despite that, Stefanski said the following: “Don’t read too much into it. Over the weekend, and throughout the spring, we don’t pay close attention to who goes first.”

Browns insider Brad Stainbrook also revealed that during the Browns’ first training sessions, Shedeur Sanders, despite not getting the top reps, looked better than Dillon Gabriel.

“Yes, it’s just the first day of rookie camp-but Shedeur Sanders looked sharper than Dillon Gabriel. This is only the beginning. The competition is real, and it’s going to be one of the stories of the season,” Stainbrook stated.

So, the battle will be intense, but for now, the edge goes to Joe Flacco’s experience. Still, the job is up for grabs, and every day at Browns camp promises to be exciting.
