Shedeur Sanders‘ NFL career isn’t unfolding the way many expected. Once projected as a first-round draft pick, Sanders slipped all the way to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite a strong showing in rookie minicamps and OTAs with the Cleveland Browns, the quarterback hasn’t been guaranteed a spot on the final roster.

That growing uncertainty has become a talking point in Cleveland. With Deshaun Watson still recovering from an Achilles injury and veteran Joe Flacco seen as the safest short-term option, Sanders is fighting for relevance in a quarterback room that also includes rookie Dillon Gabriel and former Steelers starter Kenny Pickett.

What complicates matters more is that whispers have emerged suggesting that Sanders might not make the roster at all. While the Browns have publicly remained vague on their quarterback hierarchy, the competition is stiff, and every preseason snap is expected to be a tryout.

Deion Sanders steps in

As speculation mounts, one person isn’t staying silent: Deion Sanders. Known to fans as Coach Prime, the NFL Hall of Famer and current Colorado Buffaloes head coach, who also happens to be Shedeur‘s father, took to social media to post a message aimed at motivating not just his son, but anyone facing adversity.

“Make it work, make it happen & make it right! You can make it if u try, if u don’t quit & if u believe,” he wrote in a tweet, showing both fatherly encouragement and his signature blend of motivational insight.

“Whatever it is that u desire, it’s gonna require Work, Discipline, Patience & Consistency.

“You have all the intangibles to make it work, so really it’s on u.”

That statement lands with gravity. It’s a not-so-subtle reminder that Shedeur has the tools, but must now match those resources with accountability and discipline.

“You have everything u need inside if u to make it!” Deion wrote in the caption, reinforcing the idea that success is now a matter of inner drive rather than external validation.

This message comes as Shedeur faces not only on-field pressure, but off-field scrutiny. From luxury cars and NIL riches to reports about traffic citations, the former Colorado star has been in the spotlight in more ways than one.
