Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is really going through a rollercoaster of a year on and off the field. After a 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech, Sanders is under fire for his in-game decisions made that game, as well as working through challenging family and personal issues with his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.

At the end of Colorado’s opener, Sanders did not made use of two timeouts when the team was seven points behind and on the verge of accomplishing a comeback. The clock ran out of time before the comback was even a possibility. The move by Sanders came under fire online from supporters and analysts who faulted him for making a gigantic blunder in managing the clock.

Family business in the agenda

Working behind the scenes, Sanders is handling family business. His son Shedeur Sanders, current Cleveland Browns player, put out a message of solidarity calling for the family to rebuild and unite following the loss:

As SANDERS MEN we have to regroup,” Shedeur pointed out, putting value in resilience and unity.

In the meanwhile, Shilo Sanders is having legal and financial issues. He was recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being ejected from a preseason game and fined $4,669, and he is now a defendant in an $11.89 million bankruptcy lawsuit following a 2015 altercation with him accused of assaulting a security officer.

Aside from other family issues… Deion Sanders has been dealing with his own health issues. He had a bladder removal surgery earlier this year after being diagnosed with cancer. Although he is now free from it, the whole process was a huge physical and emotional battle to fight.

While the Colorado Buffaloes prepare for their next game against Delaware, Sanders has twice the challenge of leading his yet inexperienced team through a potential extremely difficult season while still doing his father job supporting his family financially during these personal and legal turmoils.

Fans and football pundits will be watching anxiously to see how Sanders’ leadership and decisions dictate not just the trajectory of his own life but that of Colorado football.
