Deion Sanders has been told to back off from his son’s NFL future as James Jones warns Coach Prime he could actually be damaging to the 22-year-old’s 2025 Draft prospects, despite his good intentions.

The quarterback is tipped to be a first rounder and with a lot of teams desperate for a new play caller behind the offensive line, the Colorado Buffaloes star could be one of the premier picks.

However, there is a catch. With Coach Prime’s vast experience in the game, the 57-year-old had previously vowed he wouldn’t allow the aspiring professional to go to a team that he believes won’t be beneficial to him as he looks to protect his son’s career.

And whilst the intentions are pure at heart, the ex-Green Bay Packers receiver, James Jones, suggests the level of involvement could actually be off-putting to the NFL organizations mulling Shedeur over.

“Don’t play with your son’s stock and make him drop in this draft,” Jones told Sanders via The Facility. “Stay out of this.

“If Cleveland want him, Cleveland take him, if the Giants want him, Giants take him, but stay out of it and let him go wherever the team is going to pick him.

“Because I don’t want to see Shedeur’s stock drop.”

And Jones wasn’t alone in his assertion either as Chase Daniel, who played for the New Orleans Saints and made 74 career appearances, also believes the involvement of Coach Prime could be a net negative for Shedeur.

“Teams don’t like you interfering with what they are doing in the draft process,” Daniels concurred. “And I think whether we like it or not, teams absolutely considered Deion as a factor when they’re contemplating drafting Shedeur, right or wrong or indifferent.”

Could Coach Prime actually be good?

Whilst a good draft pick is beneficial, it isn’t the be all and end all when it comes to forging a successful career; as perfectly highlighted by Tom Brady (picked 199th) and the San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy (picked last).

And this is something LeSean McCoy pointed out as the ex-Philadelphia Eagles’ running back suggests Sanders’ protection policy could see Shedeur land exactly where he needs to be.

“So what if you slip a little bit,” McCoy contested on The Facility. “If you go to the best-fit team, you will be great.

“It’s not about where you get drafted; it’s the longevity, what do you do when you get there.”
