One of the more anticipated preseason debuts in recent times happened on Friday night. Taking place during the Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers game, Shedeur Sanders took the reins as the Ohio team’s starting quarterback. A much-scrutinized player following his 2025 NFL Draft fall, Sanders wasn’t expected to perform that well in his debut.
He was starting a game with backups as his weapons and in front of him on the offensive line, but Sanders carved up the opposing defense to the tune of 157 total yards and two touchdowns. He showed many of the same abilities that made him a star under his head coach father, Deion Sanders, while with the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach Prime couldn’t make it for the game, but he was there in spirit, outspoken on social media.

Deion posted three times throughout the game, but one post in particular stood out. He had a special one saved up for Shedeur’s haters: “Oh yeah what now!“
Coach Prime was clearly eating it up, and who can blame him. Watching his son shut a lot of mouths in his debut must be a special type of feeling. It was a gargantuan first step for Shedeur in his NFL career.
Shedeur had a message for his father following his performance. Knowing that Deion was expecting greatness, Shedeur had to let him know that “I ain’t do what I was supposed to do fully”. But he was very, very close.
