The NFL future of Shedeur Sanders remains a topic of great debate and discussion. Less than a month until the 2025 NFL Draft and it is no clearer as to the former Colorado Buffaloes star’s destination, amid continued concerns over his athleticism, his mentality, and his overall ceiling as a franchise signal-caller.
NFL teams are also concerned over the role Shedeur‘s father Deion Sanders continues to play at the very start of Shedeur’s professional journey. Deion had openly stated he would be strongly against Shedeur joining a “losing” organization — but Coach Prime‘s stance may be softening amid concern that his son could tumble in the first round of the draft.
Prime: Shedeur will be a winner wherever he goes…in the top 10
In conversation with Skip Bayless on “The Skip Bayless Show“, Deion Sanders amended once more his list of preferred teams for Shedeur — and Coach Prime is no longer so vehemently opposed to seeing his son land with a “troubled” organization, like the Cleveland Browns or the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Shedeur has told me, talked to me intently about all the visits he’s had with all the teams so I know where his heart is, I know where he wants to go,” Deion said. “If it’s New York it’s New York, if it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans — if it’s any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback I’m happy with it, man. Because I know what he’s going to do to the organization.”
Not coincidentally, each of the teams Deion listed are picking in the top 10; indeed, the Saints at #9 overall have the lowest pick among the franchises that Prime named to Bayless. Each team has long-term questions at quarterback too; even though the Giants just signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in a QB room refresh, both players are veterans on short-term deals, so the case can be made that New York could stick and pick Shedeur at #3 or trade down, collect more assets, and get its man later.
But no matter where Shedeur ends up come April 24, Deion is going to support his son — and he believes the “hating” is only making him stronger for future endeavors.
“I want Shedeur to do what he’s consistently done: Excel against all odds,” Deion said. “I like the hating, I like the naysaying, I like the ignorance because it makes us feel better about what we do and it gives him another chip on his shoulder.”
