San Antonio offered De’Aaron Fox a contract extension he couldn’t refuse. The former Sacramento guard will be with the Spurs for at least the next four years, during which he is expected to form a great combination with star center Victor Wembanyama and newly selected rookie Dylan Harper, a 2025 Draft pick.
Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists for San Antonio in a season that also saw his new teammate, Victor Wembanyama, sidelined with a blood clot in his right shoulder. In the end, the Spurs finished 34-48 and missed the play-in stage before winning the draft lottery.
How much money will De’Aaron Fox make with the Spurs?
The 27-year-old Fox was a one-time All-Star and was traded to San Antonio last February. The organization has now invested even more in him, agreeing to a four-year, $229 million contract extension with the team, according to ESPN.
Fox is expected to earn more than $37 million in the final year of the five-year contract. However, his new average annual salary of $57.25 million will be the fourth-highest in the league. Only Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Anthony Davis currently have higher average annual salaries.
De’Aaron Fox injured his left pinkie
It’s worth noting that, during the March 2024 season, after being traded to the Spurs in a three-team deal, Fox played only 18 games for San Antonio before being ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a left pinkie injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
In 62 games with the Spurs and Sacramento Kings, Fox averaged 23.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. He scored his only 60-point game of the season on November 15 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, setting the Kings’ franchise record for points in a game.
