Daniil Medvedev has made a public plea to United Airlines after the carrier misplaced his luggage just days before he is due to compete at the Miami Open, leaving the former US Open champion scrambling to recover his belongings ahead of the tournament.

The Russian star is scheduled to return to action on Friday as he begins his campaign in Miami, hoping to bounce back from a difficult defeat to Jannik Sinner in the final at Indian Wells last weekend.

However, his preparations for the prestigious ATP event have been disrupted by travel issues following his flight from California to Florida.

According to Medvedev, his suitcase failed to arrive after he flew from Palm Springs International Airport to Florida.

The missing luggage reportedly contained his belongings just days before the start of the Miami Open, prompting the 2021 US Open champion to turn to social media in search of help.

Posting on X, the 30-year-old directly addressed the airline in hopes of resolving the situation quickly.

“Hi @united…need a little help. Flew from PSP to Florida yesterday and none of my bags arrived. Kind of need them to play in the @MiamiOpen…. can you help?”

With the tournament fast approaching, the clock is ticking for United Airlines to track down the luggage and return it before Medvedev steps onto the court.

Lost baggage is a frustrating inconvenience for any traveler, but for a professional athlete preparing for a major tournament, the situation becomes even more urgent.

Fortunately, the airline responded quickly to the message and requested additional information in order to investigate the issue.

“Hi there, Daniil. Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your delayed baggage,” they replied.

“We absolutely understand how important it is to have your belongings as quickly as possible. Please DM your delayed bag file reference number so that we can check for update.”

A busy season for Medvedev

The travel hiccup comes during a busy stretch on the ATP calendar, with Medvedev having just completed a strong run at Indian Wells.

Although he ultimately fell short in the final against Jannik Sinner, the Russian produced several impressive performances along the way.

One of the most notable results came in his semifinal victory over Carlos Alcaraz, a match that ended the Spaniard’s remarkable winning streak.

Heading into the contest, Alcaraz had won 16 consecutive matches in 2026, capturing titles at the Australian Open and the Qatar Open earlier in the year.

By defeating the Spanish star in California, Medvedev prevented what many expected would be another showdown between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Winless run finally ends at Indian Wells

The win was also particularly meaningful for the Russian, who had lost his previous four meetings with Alcaraz, including the Indian Wells final in 2024.

It marked Medvedev‘s first victory over the Spaniard since the semifinals of the US Open in 2023.

The match also attracted plenty of attention off the court. Among those spotted in the crowd was global pop star Dua Lipa, whose reaction during the early stages of the contest went viral online as Carlos Alcaraz struggled to find his rhythm.

Now, however, Medvedev faces a more immediate concern as he prepares for the Miami Open.

With the tournament only days away, the Russian will be hoping that United Airlines can locate his missing luggage quickly so he can fully focus on competing for another major title on the ATP Tour.
