Dana White, along with Turki Alalshikh and TKO, have launched a new boxing league that has been well received by many who believe it is what the sport needs today.

Their approach of pitting “the best against the best” aims to bring clarity and excitement back to boxing, which many believe is in desperate need of restructuring.

To the point that they will have a similar style to the UFC with rankings and a single title in each division, some saw this as a war against other organizations, but for now all is calm between them.

All this comes after the terrible spectacle that Canelo Alvarez and William Scull gave us.

The fight between Canelo and Scull was heavily criticized after being ranked by CompuBox as the fight with the fewest combined punches in 12 rounds in the last 40 years.

Many pointed out that the Cuban fighter was just running and that the Guadalajara native was not taking any risks and not cutting the ring, which also fueled the perception that Canelo was prioritizing money over real competition in the ring.

Alvarez‘s next fight will be against Terence Crawford on September 12th at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some fear that ‘Bud‘ will use a very defensive tactic and it will be another sleepy fight, but with Dana White at the helm of this bout, it seems that will not be the case.

Dana White ready to bring his style to the world of boxing

Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena will headline UFC 315 on May 10, and UFC president Dana White spoke about his new challenge in boxing in a chat with ESPN Deportes.

“This is the biggest fight in history. Obviously I’m honored to promote it, but yeah. When they say we’re promoting it, I’m in charge of the promotion, the production, the events, the publicity, I mean everything that has to do with the fight, just like the UFC fights.”

He also announced that the weekend will be full of excitement, as UFC Noche will be held in Guadalajara the same weekend.

The Canelo-Crawford fight is still four months away, but it promises to steal the show, or so we hope after Alvarez‘s disappointing and boring fight with Scull.
