What’s happening with the Kansas City Chiefs-and especially with Mahomes, the face of the franchise-seemed inevitable. No team faced more scrutiny during the offseason, with many analysts predicting that the Chiefs’ dynasty would end in 2025. Colin Cowherd, one of the NFL’s most outspoken voices, has been particularly critical of Andy Reid’s squad.

So far, those predictions are proving true. The Chiefs have stumbled to a 1-2 start, and the offense, once electrified by Mahomes’ brilliance, has lost its spark. Maybe it’s not entirely his fault, but the weapons around him are highly questionable.

Up to this point, Mahomes has just 669 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception, completing only 59% of his passes-far from his usual standards. And the road doesn’t get easier: next up are Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens.

Dan Orlovsky believes that the best quarterback of the season is Daniel Jones

Meanwhile, Dan Orlovsky has made it clear who he believes is the best quarterback in the NFL right now: Daniel Jones. Normally, when we talk about the elite quarterbacks, names like Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson dominate the conversation. And to be fair, both Allen and Jackson have started strong.

But this year, someone else is stealing the spotlight-Daniel Jones, who has the Indianapolis Colts sitting at 3-0. In fact, through three games, the Colts have only needed their punter once. Speaking on ESPN, Orlovsky said: “If I had to pick one right now … I think I’m going to say Daniel Jones.”

And the numbers back him up. The former Giants QB has thrown for 816 yards, 3 touchdowns, and zero interceptions, boasting a 111.7 passer rating-better than both Mahomes and Allen, and trailing only Lamar Jackson and Jared Goff.

With a perfect start that includes a win over the Denver Broncos, Jones now faces another tough test: a road trip to Los Angeles to battle the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
