Damian Lillard is back home. After his stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, the point guard has decided to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, the franchise where he became a legend. In his first statements after signing the new contract, Lillard shared the excitement of returning to the city he has always considered home and explained the reasons behind his decision.

“Many see it as a family decision, and of course my family is part of everything I do, but this was also a basketball decision,” he said. “We play to win, and I wanted to be in a place where I could contribute, compete and feel fulfilled. Portland offers me all of that: the court, my people and the city that saw me grow as a player and as a person.”

Lillard also spoke emotionally about the impact the decision had on his children. He recounted how, when telling them that they would not have to fly to Milwaukee anymore and that they would stay at home in Portland, his daughter reacted with surprise and joy. “She looked at me and asked, ‘So you’re going to be home all the time?’ And I said, ‘Yes.’ That moment said it all,” the player confessed.

In addition to the emotional connection with the city, Lillard made it clear that his return is not a step backwards, but a commitment to continue competing. The 34-year-old point guard is determined to lead the Blazers once again and become the benchmark for a new era for the franchise. His return marks a chapter that, for many fans, should never have been closed.
