The start of the 2025 NFL season was not ideal for the Dallas Cowboys, who fell in their opener to the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 24-20.

A close scoreline made it clear that there are still areas for improvement in Dallas, however, far from being discouraged, head coach Brian Schottenheimer took the opportunity to send a message of confidence to the fans.

“I still think we can win a Super Bowl. That’s the goal and it’s not going to change,” Schottenheimer said after the game

Brian Schottenheimer highlighted the quality of his vast squad, stressing that the season is just beginning and there is a long way to go: “We have the right players, and the talent is there. We just need to be more consistent and complement each other better as a team,” he said.

The rookie coach made it clear that the Week 1 loss does not define the season. On the contrary, he sees it as a learning opportunity. “We have what it takes, and we’re going to prove it,” he said.

The quarterback acknowledged that the loss hurts, especially since it was Schottenheimer‘s first game in charge of the team. However, he insisted that the season is long and that the group is committed to getting wins from next week.

Dallas Cowboys’ next game

The next test will come in Week 2, when the New York Giants visit Dallas. It will be a perfect opportunity not only to get the first win, but also to confirm that the team can respond to pressure and back up with results the vision of its coach.

With faith, talent and adjustments to be made, Dallas will try to transform a bitter start into the spark that will propel them towards their great goal of fighting for the Vince Lombardi, however, they will first have to backtrack ahead of Week 2
