The saying, “the grass is always greener“, doesn’t always live up to what it promises. Sometimes, leaving a comfortable situation doesn’t bring about success at a new destination. But for DeMarcus Lawrence, the saying has rung true in a big way.

After spending the first 11 seasons of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, Lawrence left the team in free agency before the 2025 season to sign with the Seattle Seahawks. On Sunday night, Lawrence won his first Super Bowl; something that he simply didn’t believe would happen if he stayed in Dallas.

DeMarcus Lawrence once said he would never win a Super Bowl with Dallas Cowboys

When he signed with the Seahawks last March, Lawrence spoke about his decision to move from the south to the northwest. It was a big adjustment for Lawrence, but he did it for football reasons.

Change of scenery is always good, but Dallas is my home. I made my home there. My family lives there. I’m forever gonna be there. But, you know, I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there, so… yeah.

His comment didn’t sit well with Cowboys fans, and Dallas players. Star pass-rusher Micah Parsons called him out for it, only to see himself get traded to the Green Bay Packers later that offseason. Lawrence didn’t hold back when addressing Parsons’ criticism.

Clearly, Lawrence has nothing to envy now. In fact, he can go through the thousands of posts from Cowboys fans claiming he wouldn’t win a Super Bowl in Seattle, either.

Lawrence had several quarterback pressures and hurries in the game, helping a fierce Seahawks defense lead the team to victory in Super Bowl LX.
