Cristiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi? Ferrari F1 driver Lewis Hamilton didn’t hesitate to choose his GOAT of soccer

Comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as to who is the GOAT of soccer have always been present.

However, this debate was reignited even more after the Al Nassr star claimed in an interview with Piers Morgan that he considers himself better than the Inter Miami captain. And seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton also had his answer.

Hamilton chooses his favorite

During the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, Lewis answered some questions on various topics related to F1 and others unrelated to the sport he practices. Speaking about soccer, Hamilton revealed that his favorite players are Vinícius Junior (Real Madrid) and Neymar Junior (Santos F.C.).

However, when asked to choose between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Ferrari driver did not hesitate:

“I keep getting asked this question,” Lewis said with a laugh, finally responding, “I like Messi’s skill.”

In the interview, he also revealed that he is afraid of spiders, that his favorite circuit is Silverstone, and that his favorite driver is Ayrton Senna.

However, despite the relaxed and fun interview, his weekend was not the best for him or for Scuderia Ferrari.

Ferrari finished with a double DNF in Brazil

Although Hamilton managed to finish seventh in the Sprint race after a difficult Qualy on Friday, he was eliminated in Q2 and finished 13th during the qualifying session at Interlagos for Sunday’s race.

During the race, the Briton had a minor collision with Williams’ Carlos Sainz, which slightly damaged his car.

However, the most significant damage occurred after colliding with Alpine’s Franco Colapinto, which not only caused his front wing to break but also resulted in a five-second penalty from the FIA.

Finally, on lap 39 of the race, Ferrari decided to retire Hamilton’s car due to the damage. This is the British driver’s third DNF of the season. “Definitely a race to forget,” said Lewis.

On the other hand, his teammate, Charles Leclerc, did not fare much better either. After an overtaking maneuver by Oscar Piastri, the Australian made contact with Andrea Kimi Antonelli. This caused the Mercedes driver to collide with Leclerc and damage his front suspension, which is why he was also unable to finish the race.

After this accident, only the McLaren driver was penalized with a 10-second penalty, but Charles believes that both he and Kimi were equally responsible:

“I really think Kimi knew and was aware that Oscar was on the inside. Yes, he was not side-by-side, which is the way it’s written in the rulebook, but you cannot really take a corner as if no one is on the inside if someone is on the inside, no matter how far away they are. So for me, it’s a bit more of a 50-50 blame with Kimi and Oscar. I don’t think Oscar deserved all the blame there,” said Charles.

Now, Ferrari is preparing to turn the page and focus on the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the next race on the calendar, which is about to end. On Friday, November 20, free practice 1 and 2 will take place, and on Saturday, November 21, free practice 3 and qualifying. Finally, the race will be on Sunday, November 23.
