Could Travis Hunter be the key to convincing Deion Sanders to sign for the Dallas Cowboys? Jerry Jones is hunting his next head coach after moving on from Mike McCarthy on January 13 following a tough 2024/25 NFL season.
The Cowboys’ 7-10 finish, third in the NFC East, proved to be the final straw for the 82-year-old Jones, who sent McCarthy packing from the AT&T Stadium despite him being without Dak Prescott from Week 9.
Lining up his next pick for the head coach role, could he land on Sanders? The 57-year-old Colorado Buffaloes boss has been linked with the position for months but what will it take to bring him to Dallas?

According to Adam Schefter, one of the lead NFL Insiders, it could be they have to draft Travis Hunter. The Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver and cornerback has to be brought to the team to partner up with Ceedee Lamb.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful,” Sanders said of the links, as per Schefter. “And it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry.
“After you hang up [the call] and process it and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder, and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body in the community.”
Hunter sends Cowboys a message
Further encouragement came from Ed Werder, a Cowboys insider, who said Sanders would “almost certainly” accept a job offer and could he link up with the 21-year-old Hunter in the Lone Star State?
“I would love to go to the Cowboys,” Hunter said in a Q/A video on his YouTube channel. “Any team that gets me, I would love to play there.
“My goal was to be the number 1 pick…my goal was to get to the NFL. However, I got to the NFL, [just] make sure I got to the NFL. Whatever team I go to, I’m going to be so happy. Don’t care.”
