Claressa Shields, world boxing champion, reaffirmed her stance that she could beat Jake Paul in the ring, despite Paul’s recent victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Shields firmly expressed that she still believes Jake Paul does not have the skills necessary to face her in a professional fight.

“I don’t think Jake Paul has the skills to get in the ring with me,” said Shields.

“Or with any of the guys in the 154-pound and up category that are ranked. I’m not going to lie. 1-10.”

Despite Paul’s recent victory, Shields feels superior

Shields’ statement comes after Paul’s victory over Tyson, who at 58 years of age and after several years out of boxing, was not at his best.

Despite the fact that Jake Paul has gained notoriety in boxing for facing well-known figures, the Olympic champion stands firm in her belief that Paul is still a novice compared to elite boxers.

“He’s no match for me,” added Shields, who has proven to be one of the best female boxers in the world with an impressive track record of victories.

Not everything is criticism for Jake Paul from Shields

However, Shields also acknowledged the positive impact Jake Paul has had on boxing.

Despite criticism about the quality of his opponents, the champion claimed that Paul has done something positive for the sport by bringing more attention to boxing. “He’s bringing more attention to the sport, and that’s what you need,” she said.

“I hope everyone involved on that side continues to build on that and create a real plan so that it can be used for future generations.”

While Shields has no doubt in her ability to beat Paul, she also recognizes the importance of his influence in popularizing boxing. Nevertheless, she remains clear that, on a competitive level, Paul is not a threat to her or to elite boxers.
