It is speculated that the move stemmed from financial issues
According to insider Ramona Shelburne, the decision to part ways between Chris Paul and the LA Clippers may have been due to financial problems the franchise is facing. Paul had been signed for $2.6 million.
They’re over the luxury tax and should probably shed salary to avoid being a repeater. Obviously there’s more to a move like this though.
Another rumored possibility is that the team may be looking to make a transfer, which would free up space for players.
