The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl once again, continuing a dominant run that has left much of the NFL world frustrated. While some attribute their success to elite coaching, a generational quarterback, or even favorable officiating, Tavia Hunt, the wife of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, has a different perspective-one that’s sparking debate.
Following Kansas City’s AFC Championship victory, Tavia took to Instagram to share her thoughts, dismissing accusations that officiating has given the Chiefs an unfair advantage. Instead, she credited faith, hard work, and divine guidance for the franchise’s success.
“In 2012, we were broken-winning only two games and facing an unimaginable tragedy,” Hunt wrote. “That brokenness brought us to total dependence on the One who holds it all. We began praying 1 Chronicles 4:10 and committing the team to the Lord.”
She pointed to a pivotal moment in Chiefs history-the hiring of head coach Andy Reid-as part of a divine plan. “Shortly after, Clark hired Andy Reid, and God brought the Reids to Kansas City at just the right time.”
Hunt addressed claims the Chiefs are getting special treatment
Her remarks didn’t stop there. Addressing ongoing criticisms about officiating favoring Kansas City, Hunt refuted the notion, saying the team’s success isn’t “black magic” or referee favoritism, but rather a product of faith and perseverance. She also emphasized the role faith plays in the organization, citing team chaplain Marcellus Casey and several Chiefs players who openly share their religious beliefs.
However, what stood out most was Hunt’s mention of an unusual prophecy. She referenced Bob Jones, a late Christian mystic, who once predicted that a Chiefs Super Bowl victory would signal a “revival in the end times.”
Whether divine intervention or simply one of the most well-run franchises in the NFL, the Chiefs‘ continued dominance is undeniable. But with controversy surrounding officiating decisions in multiple postseason runs, Hunt’s explanation has done little to quiet those who believe Kansas City’s path to another Super Bowl has been anything but divine.
