Just two days before the Chicago Sky open training camp, Angel Reese is already setting the tone – and she’s doing it her way.

The 21-year-old forward, dubbed “Chi-Barbie” by fans, took to Instagram on Friday with a cryptic but confident post: a photo of her sneakers and a basketball placed on the court, captioned simply, “Chicago, we on the way.” With those five words, Reese made it clear – she’s ready to reclaim her moment.

After a promising rookie campaign that was cut short by a wrist injury, Reese is back in action and hungrier than ever. The Sky, who ended their 2024 season a disappointing 10th in the standings with a 13-27 record, are hoping a new-look roster – anchored by Reese and fellow frontcourt star Kamilla Cardoso – can steer them back into playoff territory.

Sky is giving something to talk about

Although their offseason started quietly, Chicago eventually made serious moves. They reacquired veteran Courtney Vandersloot and pulled off a high-stakes trade for Ariel Atkins, sending the No. 3 overall pick to the Washington Mystics.

Then, on draft night, the Sky added more firepower in Ajsa Sivka, Hailey Van Lith, Maddy Westbeld, and Aicha Coulibaly – forming one of the most intriguing young squads in the league.

Reese, ever the symbol of unfiltered confidence, recently reminded fans of the mindset she brings to the court. In an interview with Sniper J0nes, she opened up about the tattoo she got during her LSU days: the word “Unapologetic.”

“I’m unapologetically me. That’s kind of like… who I am,” she said.

In search of redemption

That authenticity and fire have quickly turned Reese into one of the most talked-about stars in the WNBA, both on and off the court. Now, with the Sky reloaded and expectations rising, all eyes will be on her when the season tips off May 17 – in a must-see showdown against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

One thing’s for sure: Angel Reese has unfinished business, and she’s not coming back quietly.
