The NBA Playoffs continue to be the talk of the town. Despite the Boston Celtics failing to win back-to-back championships. Eliminated in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the team that clipped their wings also failed to reach the Finals.

After giving it their all on the court, and even more so when Jayson Tatum suffered an Achilles tendon injury, the Celtics ended the series against the New York Knicks 4-2.

Despite their result, the New Yorkers fell to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals by the same margin they had over Boston. And they were ultimately defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 by a score of 103-91.

However, this did not stop Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck from taking the opportunity to taunt Knicks fans.

Wyc’s playful joke

During his appearance on the “Club 530 Podcast,” the American businessman was gracious to the fans and acknowledged his defeat, congratulating the opposing team. However, his subsequent gesture took the audience by surprise and trolled them:

Nice playoff win, Knicks fans,” Grousbeck began, but then added, “but here’s what a ring looks like,” showing off the 2024 championship ring.

His joke quickly sparked a reaction from some members of the audience, who did not take kindly to the comment and disapproved with thumbs-down gestures. However, others simply took it in stride and laughed awkwardly at his remark.

The truth is that Tatum‘s injury was a hard blow to the team, which tried to recover after his absence but failed. For their part, the Knicks failed to beat the Pacers despite Jalen Brunson‘s brilliant performance, and it was Indiana who advanced to the Finals with a 4-2 series win.
